Dabbert Digest: Spring Edition

Dabbert Digest: Spring Edition

Family Vacation

They say a team that works hard together should probably test the “play hard” theory too… so we did. In March, the Dabbert crew traded job sites for sunshine and swapped meetings for memories. 🏡 📸

What makes Dabbert special isn’t just the homes we build, it’s the people behind them. This trip was a reminder that we’re more than coworkers… we’re a work family. The kind that supports each other, laughs a lot, and creates the kind of memories we’ll be talking (and laughing) about for years to come. 🏝️ 🌊 ☀️

We came back refreshed, reconnected, and stronger than ever, because a team that truly enjoys the journey together builds something even better.

Employee Spotlight

Meet Jace, our Development Manager, whose background and experience bring a thoughtful, community-focused approach to everything we do at Dabbert Custom Homes. A proud graduate of the University of North Dakota, where he also played football, Jace went on to earn his master’s degree in Bioregional Planning and Community Design from the University of Idaho.

Before joining DCH, Jace served as the Planning & Zoning Director for the City of Kuna, Idaho, and later as the Community Development Director for the City of Horace, ND. He is also an AICP Certified Planner, reflecting his expertise and commitment to building strong, sustainable communities.

Originally from Grand Forks, Jace spent seven years in Idaho before returning to the Midwest in 2022. Outside of work, he’s an avid fisherman who loves camping, hiking, and the outdoors, and is even testing the waters with birding. He’s also a big fan of vinyl records, reading, and anything involving the kitchen, especially cooking, barbecuing, and smoking (a skill he’s pretty proud of). Add in a love for football and hockey, and you’ve got a well-rounded playbook.

Jace and his wife will celebrate nine years of marriage this June, and together they’re raising two boys (ages 5 and 2) in a lively home shared with their dog Stanley and cats Gertie and Ernie.

We’re grateful to have Jace’s leadership, experience, and passion for community helping shape the future of DCH!

FMWF Chamber: The Awards

💛 We’re feeling incredibly grateful, and a little excited. 💛

Dabbert Custom Homes has been named a Top 3 Finalist for Small Business of the Year! This recognition reflects the people behind it, our team, our trade partners, and the families who trust us to build their homes and their futures. 🏡 We’re proud to be part of this community and excited to celebrate alongside so many incredible businesses in May. 🏙️

If that wasn't exciting enough, we are proud to also share that our fierce leader, Don Dabbert Jr., has been named a Distinguished Leader Award Finalist by the Fargo Moorhead West Fargo Chamber of Commerce. 🏆

This recognition reflects years of leadership, vision and a commitment to building not just homes, but stronger communities. If you know Don, you know this isn’t about recognition, it’s about the people, the communities and the long game. Proud is an understatement. Let’s see what May brings. 👀

Torch Awards Finalist

We’re humbled to have been named a finalist for the 2026 BBB Torch Awards for Ethics. To be recognized alongside so many outstanding businesses who lead with integrity, trust and accountability makes this especially meaningful.

At Dabbert Custom Homes, we believe doing the right thing, for our homeowners, our team and our community, is the foundation of everything we build. Grateful for this recognition and proud to stand among such a strong group of businesses. 💛

Announcing 2027 Third Vice Chair Candidate

We couldn't be more proud of our fierce leader! 🙌🏼 Congratulations, Don! 🎉 The NAHB Nominations Committee has certified Don as a candidate for 2027 Third Vice Chairman: Don Dabbert, from Fargo, N.D., who is a member of the Building Industry Association of the RRV. He will address the NAHB Leadership Council in June at the Spring Leadership Meeting in Washington, D.C. ⬇️

Back at NDSU Inspiring Future Builders 📚🏗

Our team had another great opportunity to connect with NDSU’s Construction Management students, sharing a behind-the-scenes look at the homebuilding process, from planning and estimating to field work, scheduling, and everything in between. It’s always energizing to be in a room full of curious minds asking thoughtful questions and exploring what a future in this industry could look like. The next generation of builders is bright, motivated, and ready to make an impact! Thank you, North Dakota State University, for having us back, we love being part of these conversations. 💛🏡

Voices of Vision: A-Rod

🎤✨ Big Energy. Big Inspiration. ✨🎤

Our team had an incredible time at the Fargo Moorhead West Fargo Chamber of Commerce Voices of Vision in April featuring A-Rod, and wow, what a perspective! From leadership and discipline to thinking bigger and pushing past limits, it was a powerful reminder of what’s possible when you stay focused and keep showing up. We’re walking away inspired, motivated, and ready to bring that energy into everything we do. 💪🏡

PWBC: Purses, Pints, and Power Tools Bing

Still smiling from the first-ever PWBC (Professional Women in Building Council) Bingo Night, what an incredible evening for an even better cause! From the laughter and friendly competition to the amazing energy in the room, it was truly something special. We are proud of our team for getting involved with this council to bringing education and scholarships for young women in our industry.

A huge thank you to our PWBC council, generous sponsors, and every single guest who showed up, supported, and made the night unforgettable. Because of you, they're creating opportunities for young women to explore careers in the building and trades industry, and that’s something worth celebrating. 💪✨ 👀 Stay tuned… we can’t wait to share how much they raised!
