Summer Home Maintenance Checklist

Ahh, the season of warm weather, barbecuing, gardening, and dips in the lake has finally arrived. As the weather continually gets toastier, follow these tips to keep your home in tip-top shape!

  • Switch your diverter valve, hook up the black sump pump hose, and divert the sump pump water to the outside of the home.
  • Turn off the air exchanger. As the days get warmer, turn the air exchanger off to ensure there is not additional humidity being introduced to the home.
  • Re-pressurize the irrigation system. Reach out to your favorite landscaping company to ensure the irrigation system is all set for the summer.
  • Get your dehumidifier running. Use the hygrometer supplied at closing to measure the relative humidity in the home, running a dehumidifier will help ensure humidity levels stay between 30-40 percent.
  • Change Smoke/CO detector batteries.
  • Turn the ceiling fans counterclockwise.
  • Change the furnace filter if you didn’t already in the spring.
  • Seal your driveway! Click here for our recommended product.
